Introduction

The best way to learn AZZ Cardfile is to open sample file and examine how it works by clicking on the screen elements, typing text in the text input boxes, exploring menu items, various options, etc.

A special sample file is created for that purpose. When you run AZZ Cardfile first time after installation, this sample file is opened automatically. To open this file later, select Help in menu, then click on Open Sample file.

Read Help, if you want to learn more: select Contents in the Help menu and choose topic.

Don't know, how to install AZZ Cardfile? Click here.

AZZ Cardfile is two parts: the program itself and data files (cardfiles) that you create.

Each card consists of two elements:

1. Title - that’s how you name the card, it is displayed in the list on the left pane, and as a header on the top of the card when you select it.

2. Card - all the contents in right pane.

Cards are stored in file, or cardfile - this one is named sample.azz and resides in the same directory where you installed the program
(C:\Program Files\AZZ Cardfile - by default).

You can either create separate cardfiles for contacts, notes, references, recipes etc. or keep all the bits of info in one cardfile.

Screen elements

Important element is Filter. Type fraction of the card title in the Filter to locate it quickly.

Adding new cards

Create couple new cards in this cardfile, so that you can easily browse back to "Getting started" for next step.

1. Add new card:

Type Card one in the filter, press Enter and click Yes;
“Card one” should appear in the list .

Your cursor will be flashing in the right panel. This is where you enter whatever information you want on your card - for now just a bit of text, later you will explore more possibilities like copy-paste from other documents, text formatting, clickable WWW and E-mail addresses, phone numbers that will dial automatically etc...
Now Card one contains the information you just typed.

2. Add more cards using different methods:

Mouseless: press “Insert” on your keyboard, type-in the title and press Enter

Or, with the mouse click on the toolbar.

3. Save file:

Note: you will be saving it as a separate file, it will contain all the cards from this sample.azz, plus newly created cards.

From the File menu, choose Save as..., browse to where you intend to have it on your PC, type some name in File name: field and press "Save".

Next we will be creating new cardfile from scratch. To return here, use "Recently opened files" dialog on the toolbar as shown on the picture below.
